What is a round robin and how do you start one?

OH and how about an RPG...is that a role-playing-game? I've never seen one of those in action...how would they work! I would love to try it!

Round Robins and RPGs are kind of similar. In an RPG, each person writes for only their specified character or characters. In a Round Robin, each person continues the story where the last person left off....sort of a much-expanded version of the 5-word game.

I'm not sure which I find more frustrating, the round robin or the 5-word game. With the round robin I hate how the story suddenly switches direction from what you envisioned happening, but with the five word-game it frustrates me to no end trying to come up with exactly 5 words. Both are fun though. Does anyone want to start a round robin here?

I'd like to give a round robin a try.
How do you ensure that two people don't log on at the same time and write a bit to the story, then post two versions of the "next post"? Do you have an order that people have to post in and you wait your turn???
And do you set a limit for the length of each persons post.
OH HEY!!! LOOKEE I'M A NOVICE WARRIOR!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Congrats on the rank! That was what 25 or so post in 24 hours...impressive! I have started a round robin for you. I do think it would be best to declare an order so that someone doesn't waste two hours writing a section only to have someone beat them in posting. I think the length should be a minimum of a paragraph and a maximum 10,000 characters (as much as will fit in one post), though exception could be made for maximum length. How about it people sign up on this thread if they want to participate, and they write in the order they sign up?

SIGNING UP!!!! Great idea...I don't even know what you started!! LOL...But my posts are likely to be rather short, so it's good that you gave a min and max length. Does this mean I go next....

Yup, this means you go next, but upon reflection, I have decided to start a new thread just for signing up to writethe RR that can be pinned up so it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. I'll put you in as writer #2. ;D

I'm not sure if I'm going to write yet, but I think we may need to consider how long we will give the next person on the list to post.

I think we may need to consider how long we will give the next person on the list to post. Two weeks? One month? Do you have a preference?

Danks, Karri.
Cliffie is my middle name! I wanted to try to foster signups...hoping that cliffie will get people's minds moving and they will join in the fun. i think the length of our posts is good...I mean, they don't take long to write!
Thanks for starting it...I just kinda felt that sea-longing was a good explanation for Legolas' mood and I have never written about it really....just a mention of it once.
HEHE...feel free to comment on what would have made it better. You are a great author and I like constructive criticism. I am trying to make my stories more...feelings of the characters becuase I tend to tell them from the OUTSIDER point of view.

Two weeks? One month? Do you have a preference? I think two weeks sounds good. One month seems too long. What do other people think?

I think two weeks is a fair amount of time. Some people can't write quite as quickly or they don't have time to write something up all in one sitting so two weeks would likely be good.
I don't need two weeks, but I think we should probably give others the option.
*looks at round robin posts...*
We NEED more people! LOL
