Okay how do you all have the really cool pictures of Legolas etc. I don't have a webpage to use my own but have a zillion saved to my computer. Is there anyway to use one of them? Not that I don't like the cute little digimon character but come on if you had to choose between Legolas or Digimon which would you use?? lol

Hey Carol, When you are on the webpage or where ever you are, you have to copy the link location. when you do that you go to your profile, go down to where you can select your own picture and paste the location in the space and click the button to say that you are done and then it should appear. I think that is how you do it but if you have troubles just send another reply and I will try to help you some more ok Good luck Neuriel

Hey I have a quick question... I was wondering if anyone knew why Mirkwood sends barrels down the river to Lake Town. I cant find my Hobbit book and I don't remember. -Amanda

LOL! People would probably have an easier time finding this if you asked it in Through the King's Great Gates. Anyway, the Mirkwood elves trade with Laketown and Men to the south (probably those in the area of Dorwinia), and all that trade passes through Laketown via the river. The Men coming up from the south cart their goods around the falls to Laketown, where it is floated down the river to the Wood-elves palace. Once the goods have been used, the empty barrels are poled or rowed back up the river to Laketown to be refilled with more goods or exchanged for full barrels of other goods and then floated back to the palace again. There are no passable roads into Mirkwood from the east. What sort of monetary arrangement keeps the trade flowing is not clear. Thranduil might be paying for the goods, or the trade could be repayment of some old debt owed to the Wood-elves (such as after Smaug destroys Laketown and the Men make arrangements for future repayment of the aid provided by the Wood-elves.)

Dorwinia is to the south, around the Sea of Rhun (directly east of Dol Guldur in southern Mirkwood.) Some of the things traded between the Men and Elves are apples, butter and wine. Wine is definitely gotten from Dorwinia, but what else specifically comes from there, I could not say. We had an interesting discussion of Wood-elf culture a while ago. You might find it interesting. ;D goodthranduil.proboards7.com/index.cgi?board=oropher&thread=1096126525&action=display&start=0
