So after reading the thread about people's favourite Mellon Chronicles story, I thought I would ask what's your favourite Daw the minstrel story and why?
My favourite has to be In Mirkwood (also known as Prodigal Sons). By the time I had read her series she had already written several stories about Turgon and I had grown rather attached to the little trouble maker. Then to see him die and witness Legolas' response and realization of the consequnces of his and Turgon's trip into the woods was just amazing and very emotional.

Oi! Another toughie.... Well, I think I will have to choose Heart's Ease. It is just a short one, I know, but I think it is such a wonderful glimpse of our heartsick little elfling and the empty place in his heart needing to filled. *sniff*

Cast another vote for Heart's Ease. That story pulls the heartstrings in so many different directions. Sad at what Legolas has lost. Warmth at the thought of Anneal's nana filling in the hope. Touching that Anneal's nana would treasure Legolas's drawing as much as her own son's. Humor at Turgon's riot of color. "I do not know what it is, but it is beautiful." The story is also an evocative piece of writing. One of Daw's best efforts from a writing perspective.

It has taken me a while to get up the courage to post here and say thank you, because I was just flabbergasted when I saw my name in this category. I am immensely flattered and a little -- I don't know -- embarrassed or something.
Anyway thank you for the kind words, folks.

Don't be embarrassed, daw--you're wonderful! Now you just know how much we all esteem you and your writing.... :-)
And can I just say I love your Thranduil... and I think I'm half in love with Ithilden.
I KNOW I'm in love with Legolas and Eilian.... :-)
*smacks Tinar for good measure* So there.... :-)
Hugs, Jasta

Hey all! I haven't read any of daw's stories...*pouts* I'm obviously missing out! I read the brother's tranduillion thread and want to know who the heck is who!!!
SO! Where should I begin? Is there a "first" story that I should read? Any particular order...and uhm...where? FF.net, Stories of Arda? A personal website. Best place to get them in a lump cuse I don't like having to run all over creation (internetwise) to find stuff!!!
That poll thread was hilarious! (no offense meant of course! I just loved reading it!)

If you want to read daw's stories in chronological order, she has a list of stories by Legolas's age on her SOA profile page. www.storiesofarda.com/author.asp?AuthID=5I don't know if daw has updated it with her most recent stories. I didn't check the list that closely. If you're just getting into daw's universe and want to catch up on the history, reading the stories in the order of the list is probably the best idea.
