Since the question has been asked on the other two boards, it seems fitting to ask it here, as well. (I know at least one member besides myself reads these tales. ) So, which of the tales of Anomen is your favorite? Any particular reason, or does it just strike your fancy? My favorite is, again, one of the shorter ones in the series (but length isn't really a factor; it just oddly seems to work out that the short one strike a cord with me.) Anyway, I adore Dining Out. It is a wonderful glimpse into the psychological damage that the elfling usually keeps so well hidden. Also, it is the first real bonding experience between Anomen and Glorfindel, and I think I like their relationship best of the entire series.

Hmm...for some reason this category seems harder to choose than the other ones. I considered Dining Out and a couple other but I think I would have to say that my favourite story has to be Got Milk? (and I swear it has nothing to do with that fact that it's considered "my story" ) The first couple of chapters nearly had me in tears laughing and then I like how, when the story changes direction, I went from laughing to feeling deeply sorry for Anomen when he felt that Mirthrandir no longer cared for him. But it is so hard to choose as her stories are all good.

Yeah, I like that one, too, and considered it for my top choice. The first chapters are hilarious and I loved Erestor storming out of Imladris ready to read Mithrandir the riot-act, and then Glorfindel following after.... The deciding factor (nothing to do with Dining Out being my story ) is that I still think Mithrandir and Elrond got off way too easy. The elflings were in the wrong in getting into someone else's stuff, but the grown-ups should have been responsible enough to explain to the elflings the dangers of fireworks so that they did not end up in the exact situation they end up in. I think it is just a sensitive issue for me, though. My mother worked in a hospital for many years and saw many blown-off kiddie fingers and live-threatening burns from fireworks, so all the time I was growing, we got lectures on the dangers of firewords and the importance of parents teaching their children about the dangers of fireworks. It is funny how sometimes an author can just hit a button like that, eh?

I haven't read any Anomen stories. I take it they are elfling stories? Exclusively? What genre do they lean towards? Humor? Angst?

Hi LKK, The Anomen stories are a completely AU version of Legolas's life from his birth until the Council of Elrond. They have some angst, but not much physical injury and no torture. Mostly, they mingle angst with humour, and often they are a bit satirical, as well. I was a bit hesitant to delve them initially because the first tale makes it appears as though it is Evil!Thranduil, but such is not the case. The writing skill is outstanding, though timelines and geography are way off. Here's the quick rundown: Legolas's mum dies at his birth. Grief-stricken Thranduil does not acknowlege bitty Legolas, so his seneschal sends the baby away with a foster-mother. Alas, the seneschal eventually convinces Thranduil that he needs this his only heir to be raised at home, so Legolas is brought to the palace, where he is miserable. (You see now why a Good!Thranduilist would hesitate, but Thranduil really ends up written beautifully as the tales progress.) Eventually, the elfling runs away, renames himself Anomen, and is taken in by Elrond. Thus he grows up in Imladris. They are fun if you can set aside all canon and just roll with them. Otherwise, it is probably better to skip them entirely. Karri

I too have never read any Anomen stories. Perhaps someone could suggest which one I could start with? I am very short on time, so preferably a short story would be nice!!!
Thanks much!

Oi! Where to start...but not a long one.... Well, in that case, you try The Clearing: www.fanfiction.net/s/1858981/1/This is that tale of Legolas's first five year and is a pretty quick read.

Hey Gwenneth, If you do find you have some time, you may want to read The Nameless One after you finish reading The Clearing because it may help clear up some questions you may have and help outline the series for you. After that, Elf Eye has listed the order to read the stories in her profile. Hope you like them www.fanfiction.net/u/442271/

Yup, that's an excellent bit of advice from Joee. Nameless One sort of summarizes the whole series. It was Elfeye's first story, and then by demand she has written a bunch of stories since which flesh things out more.

Well thanks for the suggestions guys! I have since read The Clearing and I liked it a lot! I was a bit confused at first as to who Laiqua was, but I got it...
I will attempt to get myself in gear to read The Nameless One. That ought to bring me up to date! I think this is a wonderful series so far though!
Thanks for bringing it to my attention!
