That's an excellent question Carol, and while were on the subject of updates, someone, I wont mention names here, but this person was is supposed to update the Bitterness of Mortality.
Ok, handing the category back to Jasta...are we going to have an update soon?

The Unnamed Person was actually working on chapter 11 of Bitterness before getting sidetracked by the message board. She must go to bed now, though, as she let her blood sugar crash earlier and now feels icky, but she has no other plans for the morrow beyond working on the chapter, and so bids Joee to hold on hope. As for Jasta, I believe she has been sidetracked by 1. the Red Sox, and 1. a nightmarish work schedule. But be assured that you have not missed the ongoing scruffiness.

No, no one has missed the update to Scruff yet! *blush* And yes, between my Boys in Red Hosen and the Quatsch going on at work, AND another little project that I'll mention in a moment, I'm a little bit insane at the moment. Which probably means perfect atmosphere in which to write. ;-) The other project is a Hallowe'en costume I'm making for my niece, Megan--who was my inspiration for Morilinde, the young elleth in "Dark Leaf" who is hanging out with the Silvan folk. Meggie wanted an Elf gown... she wanted her version of Arwen's so-called "Requiem Gown", the purplish-blue one with the silver trim and sleeves, that she wears when she sees the vision of her son, then rides back to Imladris to pregnant dog out Ada. ;-) I'm almost done... I may have to deliver this one to New Jersey by hand. :-) Cheers, Jasta

Ummm are you close to an update yet? Sorry just had to ask. Hi Carol, No need to be apologetic about asking! :-) I'm just glad folks continue to be interested. Yes, I am quite close to an update. At the end of November, I expect to be updating Scruff, Dark Leaf, AND posting two new stories--those new stories will be long, and will be WIPs, though by the time I start posting, they will be nearly done. :-) By not starting to post them until they are almost finished, I will avoid the difficulties of trying to work through the creative process while worrying that folks will lose interest because of the length of time involved. With most of the chapters complete, I expect I shall be able to post about a chapter a week--two weeks at the worst--and that way, people won't go nuts waiting. :-) So soon.... soon there will be lots to read. I won't post spoilers about the other stories unless y'all really want them... :-) Cheers, Jasta

I will avoid the difficulties of trying to work through the creative process while worrying that folks will lose interest because of the length of time involved. Of all the things you need to worry about, Jasta, fear that your readers will lose interest because of the length of time between updates is most definitely NOT something you need to worry about. The idea is absurd. How did your niece's Halloween costume turn out? *whispers* PS: I wouldn't mind some spoilers.

Of all the things you need to worry about, Jasta, fear that your readers will lose interest because of the length of time between updates is most definitely NOT something you need to worry about. The idea is absurd. :-) Well, thank you for saying so! I know there are a lot of folks who have been extremely kind about waiting with patience; DL is not an easy story to write, and Life keeps getting in the way, but many, many people have stuck with me, and it means a LOT. I have gotten some disheartening retorts though... several times people have written and absolutely castigated me for "giving up on" the story and "how dare you stop when you get us all emotionally involved..." After all the times I have insisted that only death itself will keep me from finishing this, it made me a little nuts. ;-) Then there was the person who, after my mother's death in May, wrote to me privately to say (basically) "OK, we GET it, your mother died, you've been grieving and in a lot of pain medically to boot. Isn't it time you stopped being so self-indulgent, yadda-yadda.... and give us what we want, which is more, and longer, and more frequent updates?" Needless to say, I did not respond to that one. ;-) But yes, it means a whole heck of a lot to me, to know there are wonderful, compassionate, caring, patient and spectacular readers out there, who are willing to wait until I can get my act together. That's another reason I don't want to disappoint anyone--hence, waiting til these newer long stories are almost done before I start posting the first bits. How did your niece's Halloween costume turn out? *whispers* PS: I wouldn't mind some spoilers. :-) The costume turned out WONderful!! I did have to drive to NJ to deliver it, but it was worth it. I got lots of lovely pics, and will put them up on my website tonight; when they are up, I will post the links. I'll put the spoilers in a new topic. :-) Hugs & thanks, Jasta

I agree. I don't think you have to worry about anyone loosing interest. And by the way did I just hear something about spoilers? Do we want them? Now that's a silly question. Of course I do. lol

Going back into hiding lol ~ Carol ~ :-) No need to hide... not for you anyway! :-) Eeep! I know I said November, then I said December.... sorry about that!!! The Scruffilogue should be out in about a week; DL 17 will head to the beta shortly. After that, there should be a steady stream of new stuff--and DL 18 is slated for sometime around February.... Then there's the plot critter unleashed on me last night by Karri. ;D Heh heh heh.... Cheers, Jasta the Dilatory
