“That turned the conversation, and they all began discussing dragon-slayings historical, dubious, and mythical, and the various sorts of stabs and jabs and undercuts, and the different arts and stratagems by which they had been accomplished. The general opinion was that catching a dragon napping was not as easy as it sounded, and the attempt to stick one or prod one asleep was more likely to end in disaster than a bold frontal attack.” -- The Hobbit, Chapter XII – Inside Information Another bunny has sidled up to whisper in my ear a reminder that plot bunnies, unlike dwarves, are ever so fond of being tossed. This one is demanding a dragon-slaying adventure (sans Turin or Bard). Yup! It is that simple! It may take place in any age, with any characters, and be any length, so long as somewhere in the course of events, a dragon is slain.

But why would you want to slay the dragon? They're so cute!
I've personally seen them as being neutral rather than evil, but perhaps they could be corrupted. Maybe a scaley bunny will bite me... perhaps a character who thinks dragons are as neat as I do, but finds out the hard way?
Or perhaps a would-be hero having a run-in with a less than ambitious dragon?
Hmn...

Dragons were initially bred by Morgoth, but once he was cast into the Void, they do seem to have shifted towards neutral. You are welcome to spin the tale in any way you like.
